Effect of recycled concrete aggregate features on adhesion properties of asphalt mortar-aggregate interface

• RCA with high CMC value, complex shape and surface leads to worse interfacial adhesion failure. GA-BP artificial neural network presented considerable capacity predict the damage behavior. The cement mortar content exhibited greatest influence on property of asphalt mortar-RCA interface. Asphalt-aggregate interface’s properties commonly affect initiation evolution within concrete materials, related pavement durability quality. scope this research was investigate Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA) features mortar-aggregate interface adhesion. Firstly, a three-dimensional reconstruction model carried out using X-ray CT tomography digital image processing. In regard, five feature indicators, namely content, sphericity, flat elongated ratio, angularity, texture, were proposed. Based bilinear cohesive zone model, behavior investigated by uniaxial compression simulation. Finally, conducted quantify effect each indicator results showed that when had lower higher sphericity smoother surface, system less prone 5-14-1 proposed in study very good performance predicting dissipation energy mean-squared error value 3.52 × 10 −4 for testing dataset. parameter remarkable property, its global contribution (0.3486) more than twice texture (0.1316). future studies, characteristics can be further investigated, thereby proposing RCA’s optimization technology.
